Located on a small island in the Dnepr River, Hydropark and its beaches are a popular gathering point for sports, leisure and entertainment. An area of 188 hectares offers sandy beaches, a big open-air sports ground, volleyball, badminton and tennis courts, restaurants and all sorts of water sports.
The riverside territory of today's park was a place of frequent floodings in the past - Kiev citizens used to call it their "Venice". In the 1960s the island was equipped with beaches and rest zones and is now connected with the rest of the city by a 144-metre long bridge.

At night the park turns into a place of vibrant nightlife and during the summer the island hosts many open-air beach parties, festivals and concerts. In late spring and summer in particular it also holds a number of unusual exhibitions - the sand sculpture contest, for example, regularly attracts competitors from all over the world.
